Good Luck vs. Bad Luck

Have you ever noticed that when you have a run of bad luck it usually tends to run in three's and when you have a run of good luck you might be lucky to get one really good thing and maybe one or more so-so good things that aren't necessarily great, but not terrible either?

If you are superstitious then you probably have a few little quirks that you tend to do to ward off bad luck. For myself, for instance, if I spill some salt I will throw a pinch over my left shoulder. This came from my grandfather. He was a superstitious old sweetie and could he ever be contrary....hmmm....sounds a lot like me. Another little quirk in my family is if your left hand itches it means money is heading your way and if your right hand itches you might be going somewhere on a trip. Now this trip business could be someone asking you out for coffee or a trip out of town, it unfortunately doesn't portend a nice vacation...LOL...but it would be great if it did!

I know someone who religiously avoids stepping on cracks and won't walk under ladders, etc...It doesn't bother me. I think it is rather quaint. To each his own, I always say. Now, my two young sons love to step on cracks when we are out somewhere and they do so while looking back at me to see if I am going to suddenly fall over screaming that my back is broken. If I could find a way to fall over without actually hurting myself I would do it just to see the look on their faces. It would serve the little monkeys right.

Looking to ward off the bad luck freak and entice the good luck fairy to hang around? There are no hard and fast rules. You can just stay in bed and hide under the covers or you can get out there and enjoy life. Sure bad things happen to good people, but good things happen too. The bad things aren't always catastrophic (but they can be sometimes) either. They seem so at the time, I know, I've been there a time or two. But, you can't let it get you down. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get going again. It usually isn't long before a bit of good luck comes along to sweeten the bad.
